| How far should the government go when regulating firearms and ammunition? What about gun registration? Will taking guns away from law-abiding citizens protect them in any way? | |

| I personally think, firearms should be BANNED completely. Hunters shouldn't be allowed to take fire arms home, but there should be a place where they can RENT a firearm (with a licence ofcourse) for the period of time they will be hunting. With all these DAILY shootings, in schools, shopping centers, etc. fire arms should be completely banned. It scares me to go downtown into a busy place, knowing that any day something like that can happen. I listen to the news on the radio daily, and i always here about a shooting or stabbing, its scary... The gun restriction today is way to lieniant, they should definitely raise the bar and have guns monitored a lot more closely.
It worries me to know, that my neighbour could have possetion of a rifle...expecially when i hear about these sick messed up people that kill their friends, family, or just citizens in general.

| Taking away guns from law-abiding citizens is exactly what communist countries do. They know they will have total control over the people if the citizens don't have firearms. What will stop the criminals from getting guns? It is easy for someone to find a gun, even an "assault weapon" that doesn't have any use other than a collector's item. A country that doesn't have any private gun ownership is an easy target for another country. They know the only ones with guns are the military. The founding fathers of our country understood this and that's why it's in our constitution to be able to have a firearm. | |

| Justin, i think this issue can come from all different angles. We have basically created a society where guns unfortunately will always be apart of our lives, and people will always own guns. Just an idea, but perhaps increasing the penalty for someone who murders a person would minimize crime. People today, know they don't have to worry all that much, cause to serve life in prison is like a treat, and even better they can get parol in 6 years or something like that. So perhaps bringing back the death penalty, would stop these crimes and mass shootings in schools and malls. What do you think? | |

| I hate guns. I always have, I always will. We have guns in our home. My husband is a hunter. Now, the guns he owns are all trigger locked and then locked in a gun cabinet in our lower basement, out of site and safely stored. They are not kept loaded either. I am still not happy having them in my house but at least I know that they stored properly. Charlie took a firearms course and has a licence.
I don't think the punishment is harsh enough for criminals who use guns as part of their crime. Our justice system goes to easy on criminals, period.
As for background / criminal checks....that would only work if the person has been caught doing something illegal. If someone is smart enough to not get caught doing something illegal then it would never be known. There is a lot of evil out there that has never been caught.
Unfortunately guns and violence are a huge part of today's society. I don't see any way that any of this will ever get better.

| Vash I totally disagree with you 100%. I believe that taking away and banning all firearms is the worst possible thing that we can do, and I'll tell you why. The guns that we all have to worry about aren't the ones bought through legal means by law abiding citizens, they are the ones bought on the black market, or other markets, by non-law abiding citizens. Taking away all guns would, in fact, increase the crime rate only because the criminals would know that the citizens wouldn't have the ability to defend themselves. Now I believe in background checks and other regulations are definitely a good idea because they keep more guns out of those people's hands, and I believe that people should have to be liscensed before being able to buy a firearm just like say a car. | |
