Is it ok to be...

Does God have a different view about "gay" people? Is it a sin to be "gay"?

I have nothing against gay people as i have very good friends that are...i simply know that this is a discussion that has been touched many times by christians, and i wanted to know what you all have to say about this topic.

I don't think it's okay to be gay, but i have a few good friends that are gay. I think god placed them into our lives for other reasons than to be a laughingstock. I have nothing against them, but i just don't approve their way of living. That's why God made man and woman... (their genders and what they are used for)

The Bible speaks pretty plainly about homosexuality.
I Cor 6:9,10-- do you not know theat the wicked will not inherit kingdom of God?...Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders....will inherit the kingdom of God.
The Bible speaks out against sexual immorality in many places. And when it doesn't say homosexuality, it is implied. As is any sex outside of marriage, lustful thoughts, and so on (remember that whatever sin the mind entertains is the same thing as committing that sin).

Don't forget that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for sexual sins, as well as others. Gen.19

It's not right to judge a gay person for their lifestyle, but it's not ok to accept it. Hate the sin, not the sinner, right.

Justin, that's the same way I feel about homosexuality.


I've had several gay friends who were all great friends. I don't condem them, but I certainly don't agree with their decisions, hence the line I live by that Justin used: Hate the sin, not the sinner.

justin you bring up some very key points, i like your way of explanation. I totally agree with you, and cpowanab7, i also have a few very good friends that are homosexuals, and i don't condemn them in any way, but i would follow in their footsteps as it is wrong in the eyes of god.

The bible is actually quite specific.

In a nutshell: God does not like Homosexuality, thus it is not okay to be homosexual.... However, this does not mean that we should despise of the homosexuals, no, we should rather help them.

I too have family and friends who are homosexual. I don't like or agree with their lifestyle choice but I would never turn my backs on them. I like how cpowanab7 put it, hate the sin, not the sinner.

When I was doing some online research onto this subject, I came across this:

I am shocked and appalled that Lot would offer up his two virginal daughters to these men to protect the men he had under his roof. Is that not a worse sin........

I can't shed any light on it, though it might have something to do with the culture and the way they precieve guests, I would not condone it. My feeling on homosexuals is the same as my view of any consistent sinner. I do not know why, but many christians I know seem to believe that straight people who consistently have sex are better than gay people who consistently have sex.

The main reason I feel about this as strongly as I do is because as a kid I lived, and currently live, in Topeka, Kansas which is the home of a church full of people who are avid anti-homosexuals. Many days going to elementary school I had to read the signs saying God Hates Fags, God Laughs When Fags Die, etc... Needless to say it really ticked me off. Of course now that I'm older I also know that they condemn America and everything it stands for, They condemn men and women in the army and picket their funerals, they condemn people who go into higher education and also picket their funerals, one example being the Virginia Tech shooting, they condemned the students who were shot and were going to picket their funerals. For a while I was conflicted as to whether it was okay to have such harsh feelings towards fellow christians, then I realized, they aren't, and that they need the love and mercy of a savior which they haven't found. Sorry for rambling, lol.
